The Poultry Butler,
an automatic chicken coop door, will keep your chickens safe, by automatically opening and closing your chicken coop door when you can't.
Yes. Poultry Butler will also operate using a 12 volt car battery. It only takes a few minutes to convert to 12 volt operation and the solar battery rechargers found in the parts
section will keep the battery at peak charge.
Only the light sensor needs to be in the sunlight. The light sensor comes with a 14’ cord. The Poultry Butler will also operate on a timer which is available in the parts section.
The power transformer is not meant for outside use and should be protected from the elements. The indicator light should also be sealed to keep water away from the circuit
board.

Poultry Butler is mounted on an inside coop wall over the existing opening permitting you to leave your existing outside door in place. Mounting space requirements are 3" more than the doors dimensions. (Standard door 13" x 33")
The door will be in the open position when it should be closed and the indicator light on. Also lightly push up on the open door if it moves only a ¼ of an inch and the indicator light comes on the door needs reset.
With the unit unplugged and one of the light sensor leads disconnected plug the transformer in. You should immediately hear a click in the upper left corner of the unit. Another check is with the unit plugged in remove the access cover and push in the plunger switch located on the circuit board. The indicator light will come on if transformer is good.
The most common and easily corrected problem is the door not triggering the upper limit switch causing the indicator light to activate and shutting off power to the unit preventing it from closing. Resetting the door and observing that the door stops when it contacts this switch is the best test. Removing the upper screw and pivoting the switch closer to the door will correct this problem. Another common mistake is manually lifting the door while the unit is still energized. Doing this triggers the lift motor to run offsetting the synchronization between the limit switches and motor rotation causing the unit to shut down triggering the indicator light. If you must lift the door shut off power first. Carefully lift and lower the door so as not to damage the activation lever on the lower limit switch.

Transformer plugged into energized 110VAC
Transformer Bad
Remove access panel and push plunger switch located on circuit board. Indicator light should activate indicating power. Replace transformer/circuit board
Timer Relay
Plug timer relay cord into 110VAC you should hear

secure. Check that leads into terminal block are
secure. Replace relay
Loose motor lead
With timer activated jiggle wire leads into motor to
see if motor starts repair leads into motor
loose wire connections
With timer activated jiggle wire connections to

Jiggle jack/plug connection to check for contact. Secure plug to maintain contact.
Loose wire connection
Remove access panel and check that soldered terminals to switches and circuit board terminal connections are secure.
light sensor
Remove access panel. With door energized, using a paper clip, touch the two red leads located on timer relay. Door should begin to open. If it does replace light sensor.
Door won't close and indicator light on
Door not closing properly
Clean debris from bottom of door. Check to see that door moves freely in track. Reset.
Upper limit switch not being triggered.
Reset door. With access panel removed restore power to door. As door rises depress upper limit switch lever. The door should stop. If it doesn't switch needs replaced. Let door continue to rise until it contacts upper limit switch lever. You should hear a slight "click" and the door will stop. If it doesn't position switch closer to the door .
